I can’t exactly
remember who it was that I saw with this book … I believe it was someone on
YouTube that was talking about this series. And being that Travel and Tourism major that I am, I was
immediately attracted to the titles of the books (as well as the covers which I found on The Book Depository!). Plus it sounded like a fun, light,
summertime read! Sign me up! :)

Goodreads Summary:
Perfect for fans of Sophie
Kinsella, get ready for the summer debut of the year...When you're running away
from a broken heart, there's only one place to go...Adjusting tiaras at the
foot of the aisle, Angela and her best friend prepare for the wedding of the
year. But events don't go as planned. And when a girl is in possession of a
crumpled bridesmaid dress - and can't go home - New York (for the very first
time) seems like an excellent idea. Angela's new friend Jenny Lopez gives
Angela a whirlwind tour of the city that never sleeps, and a makeover. Who
hasn't dreamed of starting afresh with a sassy New York wardrobe, a new haircut
and a trip to the make-up counter? Before she knows it, the new Angela is
getting over her broken heart by having dinner with two different boys. And,
best of all, she gets to write about it in her fabulous new blog. But it's one
thing telling readers all about your romantic dilemmas. It's another trying to
figure them out for yourself! Warm, funny and unputdownable, I Heart New York
is an unforgettable debut.
Characters:
I really did
enjoy the main character, Angela.
She was sweet, cute, funny, and very likeable! Her 2 love interests, Alex and Tyler, both were very likeable
as well, each in their own way.
Tyler was romantic and sweet, but Alex was cute and down-to-Earth and
very kind. Angela’s new friend in
New York, Jenny, was a little crazy at times, but always had the best
intentions. Overall, the main
characters were sweet and funny and interesting to read about!
Plot:
The novel takes
place over the course of 2 weeks.
It begins with Angela finding out that her boyfriend is cheating on her,
so she travels from her home in London to New York to get away and regroup. The beginning is a little rough, simply
because Angela meets Jenny as she is working in the hotel where Angela is
staying. I get that the author
needs to have someone there for Angela to talk to, vent to, and to help her in
the city; however, the quick relationship (and the free room service that
Angela receives because of her relationship with Jenny) just seem a bit too
convenient. However, this is just
a cute, summertime novel, and sometimes you just have to look past those minor
issues. I did just that and ended
up really enjoying the book!
Writing Style:
The writing
style was really different for me because there was a lot of “England” talk, a
bit of slang that I didn’t really understand. LOL. But it was
still fun to read and see a bit of the culture. The writing flowed well with several funny moments that made
you laugh out loud! I really felt
like the style of writing reminded me of “Sex and the City” (also because
Angela writes a column once in New York about her love life and
relationships). But overall, I
really enjoyed the writing style because I felt like I could actually hear the
characters talking, and this made them seem more real!
Have you read this book? I think I’m definitely going to
continue on with the series, and see what happens to Angela next in Hollywood!
