I Heart Hollywood: A Book Review

I previously read and reviewed the first novel in this series, I Heart New York, and I really enjoyed it!  It was very much like a Sex and the City, chick lit type book, which is perfect for summer!  This second book is a wonderful extension of the characters and the story, and I think I may have liked it more than the first one!  Bonus: these covers are the cutest things I have ever seen!

Review:
Goodreads Summary:

Celebs, sunshine and beautiful boys…enough to lead a girl astray?
Angela Clark can’t believe her luck… she’s an English girl living in New York with a dream job at hip magazine The Look and a sexy boyfriend.
Her latest assignment takes her to Hollywood to interview hot actor and fellow Brit James Jacobs. Thrown in at the deep end she heads west with best friend Jenny dreaming of Rodeo Drive and Malibu beach.
Soon Angela discovers that celebrity life in Hollywood is not all glamour, gloss and sunshine. Despite his lady-killer reputation, the only person who seems genuine is James.
Then a paparazzi snaps them in an uncompromising position and suddenly Angela is thrust into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons…
Can she convince all those close to her – especially her boss and her boyfriend – not to believe everything they read? And will Hollywood ever win Angela’s heart?

Characters:

Angela, who moved from London to New York after she found her boyfriend cheating on her, continues her writing career with an online blog and magazine.  Angela is such a fun character, especially with all the trouble she gets into throughout the novel, that I loved reading about her!  She is sweet, adventurous, and funny!  I love watching her grow and develop through her new experiences in Hollywood.  Her best friend, Jenny, comes to Hollywood with her to show her around as she used to live and work there.  Jenny is another wonderful character; her bold personality is fun to read about as she helps Angela through her problems, despite having many of her own.  Alex, Angela’s boyfriend, sounds completely adorable and sweet!  I love how these characters have very real dialogues and adventurous experiences!

Plot:

Angela receives an assignment from the company she works with to head to Hollywood and interview a huge celebrity.  Hesitant to leave her boyfriend and her new home in New York, Angela takes Jenny, and they head to Hollywood.  As Angela begins interviewing James Jacobs, the celebrity that all the women love, she learns some of his secrets.  As chaos breaks out (mostly because of too much alcohol), Angela and Jenny must try to put everything back together before heading back to New York.  The plot of this novel was fun and exciting; I buzzed through this book because I didn’t want to put it down!  The action was fast-paced, and this book was overall very addicting!

Writing Style:

I really enjoyed Lindsey Kelk’s writing style!  The plot moved along at a great pace to keep the reader interested.  The characters continued to develop really well from the previous novel in the series, and they grew and learned through their troubles in Hollywood.  I love the dialogue between Angela and Jenny; it was so girly, fun, and realistic!

Have you started this series?  I definitely recommend it!  I can’t wait to pick up the next book in the series, I Heart Paris, to find out what happens to these characters next!
